Get Your Groove On at the Best Dance Studios in Amsterdam

Variety of Dance Styles - We explored each studio’s class offering by checking if they cater to different dance styles like ballet, hip-hop, salsa, and contemporary. This ensured they were open to diverse interests and skill levels.

Qualified Instructors - We reviewed the instructors’ credentials by looking at their professional backgrounds on studio websites and verifying their experience in teaching specific dance forms.

Class Schedule and Flexibility - We analyzed the schedules to see if studios offer classes at convenient times for students and working professionals. We also looked for drop-in classes and flexible membership options to accommodate different needs.

Reputation and Reviews - We checked online reviews and ratings across platforms. We looked for consistently positive feedback about the instructors, teaching methods, and overall experience. Studios with glowing endorsements stood out.

We’ve tried everything from salsa to street dance in Amsterdam. If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that the right studio makes all the difference.

The city’s dance spaces are packed with energy, creativity, and plenty of chances to laugh at yourself (trust us, we’ve done it more than once).

There’s something magical about stepping onto the floor and feeling the music take over—even if your first few moves look more like a shuffle than a spin.

Whether you’re itching to learn a new style or just find a fun way to move, Amsterdam’s dance studios have a vibe for everyone.

How much do dance studios charge in Amsterdam?

Dance studios in Amsterdam charge at least €12.50 for a single trial class and €55 per month for weekly sessions. However, final prices may vary depending on the class frequency, duration, membership type, and additional fees.

Chassé Dance Studios feels like a lively hub for anyone serious about dance—or just looking to have fun moving to the beat. During our visit, the atmosphere was energetic and welcoming.

The studio offers nine spacious rooms and more than 100 weekly classes, ensuring a broad range of options for participants. Students we spoke to shared how they discovered a love for dancehall through the studio’s classes.

What we found great was the flexibility of their membership options. For €73 a month, the six-month ‘Chassé Regular’ subscription gets you up to four classes a week—I’d recommend this for anyone who wants to stay consistent.

For occasional dancers, partnerships with ClassPass and OneFit provide convenient booking options and discounted rates, which we found a sweet deal.

We also attended one of their events, the Amsterdam Dancehall Camp. The experience was energetic and immersive, with top Jamaican instructors transforming the studio into a lively dancehall hub.

However, a few students shared frustrations about last-minute cancellations, including cancellations within an hour of the scheduled time. While we didn’t experience this ourselves, it’s something to consider if you’re planning your day tightly around a class.

Pros

  • Nine spacious studios
  • 100+ weekly classes
  • Flexible memberships
  • ClassPass and OneFit discounts
  • Unique events like Dancehall Camp

Cons

  • Occasional last-minute cancellations

Provides professional guidance from well-trained teachers

“I love this studio and come here 2-3x per week. The teachers are well trained professionals who invest in your improvement in form and in style. I highly recommend taking your first or your next dance class here, as there are classes for all levels.”

– Nalani Kopp, Google Review

Provides diverse classes led by skilled and friendly instructors

“This is a great school to learn to dance or advance your dance skills. They offer a diversity of classes from skilled teachers. I have tried a lot of different classes and picked the classes that fitted my preferences best. All teachers I have had lessons from were skilled and friendly. The building is the best looking of al dance school in Amsterdam as it is situated in an old church. Overall atmosphere amongst dancers is very good. My teenage daughter also dances at this school. It is a safe place for young dancers to learn and advance in dance. Classes we really loved are: Urban 25 with Regillio, Latin with Kimberley, Hiphop with Kevin if you are an experienced dancer, Dancehall with Aimee, Sexy Heels with Nicole (specially if you are a woman that needs to reconnect with her own womanhood, Nicolle is extremely body positive)”

Amsterdam Dance Center (ADC) has been part of Amsterdam’s dance heartbeat since 1995. When we checked it out, we could see why it’s a favorite of many.

Their ‘open class’ setup is perfect if your schedule’s all over the place—no advance registration, no fuss. Just show up for the style you’re feeling that day.

We even met a dancer who said it’s the ultimate freedom—they can drop in for K-pop one day and try out contemporary or jazz the next. Honestly, that’s exactly how we’d roll too!

We’re also truly impressed by the variety of dance types they offer. They have ballet, hip-hop, and dancehall that suit every mood and skill level.

The great thing is, they’re open almost year-round (360 days to be exact). It really shows how committed they are to giving dancers a space to learn and grow.

Plus, the instructors are top-notch. A few have international credentials, and we could feel the energy in the room—like every class is a mini masterclass.

For those who’d rather dance at home, their online classes are a solid option. You can grab a single video class for €10, which is great for a quick practice session.

But here’s the catch; they’re strict about tardiness. Show up more than 15 minutes late, and you might miss the class entirely. While it’s a bummer if you’re running behind, it’s also nice to see a studio respect everyone’s time and focus.

Pros

  • Open class setup
  • Wide range of styles
  • Open 360 days a year
  • Top-notch instructors
  • Online classes

Cons

  • Strict tardiness policy

Teaches with great enthusiasm

“Our daughter has been dancing with great pleasure at the Amsterdam Dance Center for over 4 years. The teachers teach the lessons with great enthusiasm and she learns something new with every lesson. Level is well divided by age, so she never gets bored or tired of a lesson. She enjoys going to dance lessons every week. The teachers respond well to what children can handle and what concerns them at their age. Top organization and in a beautiful building with ditto dance halls. Highly recommended!!”

Fosters connections between teachers and students over time

“The Amsterdam Dance Center is like a home. Nice lessons, nice atmosphere. The more often you come, the more you will get to know the teachers and students. There is a lot of personal attention in the lessons, I am challenged here, which I really appreciate. The schedule is also very diverse, so there is always something that suits my mood!”

Founded by Wladimir Donse in 1975, Wladimir Dance Studios blends its long-standing reputation with dynamic classes that draw dancers of all ages.

When we visited, it quickly became clear to me why this studio continues to thrive. The classes were well-organized, and the instructors were attentive and approachable.

For adults, the Streetdance/Hip-hop and Modern dance classes stand out—not just for the choreography but for the way the instructors make the space feel laid-back and motivating.

The flexibility to join any time during the season makes it easy for newcomers to groove along. One student we spoke with said they’d been coming back for years because the studio feels like home.

We even caught part of a class taught by one of their instructors, Stefan, who trained at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts. He blended foundational techniques with personal expression, and we loved how the kids in his class looked like they were having a blast.

Beyond the classes, they also offer awesome extras. They host birthday parties, workshops, performances, and even space rentals—exactly what we’ve been looking for!

However, we’ve heard their services are in high demand. So, if you’re thinking about booking a dance, space, or activity, it’s worth locking it in early.

Pros

  • Long-standing reputation
  • Dynamic classes for all ages
  • Flexible enrollment
  • Skilled instructors

Cons

  • Limited availability

Encourages regular participation with engaging classes

“I have been dancing at Wladimir Dance Studios for almost one year now (taking 3 classes per week) and I can only say good things about them. They are super friendly, reaching out to them is quick/easy and the dance teachers there are amazing with great energy and vibes.”

– Farida Elsharkawi, Google Review

Features passionate teachers who bring energy to every lesson

“I’m attending modern dance every week. Very passionate teachers and I love the energy during their lessons! Highly suggested if you want to get out of your comfort zone and express yourself. Plus, at the end of the lessons you can take a breath on the canal straight outside the building and enjoy the view.”

Dance For Your Pole 107 in Amsterdam Centrum is more than just a studio—it’s an experience. With X-Pole Pro X-lock models and professional-grade floors, the setup is built to impress.

We saw a mix of beginners and seasoned dancers during our visit. They were all under the guidance of certified instructors who tailor their teaching to every level.

Their workshops, like Burlesque & Pole or Twerk & Pole, are perfect for parties. We could feel the buzz when a group geared up for a bachelorette bash.

While the energy is unmatched, we did hear from a few students that some instructors occasionally run late. So, planning might save some frustration.

They make up for it by making bookings more convenient through ClassPas. So, whether you’re here to refine your skills or simply let loose, this studio ensures every visit feels worthwhile.

Cons

Handles unexpected changes seamlessly

“Smooth communication and professional approach! Some unexpected cancellations, but that is not a problem. Oksana provided the pole dancing and burlesque workshop and she did it very professionally. Various techniques were explained and she provided good guidance where necessary. Of course we had a lot of fun and learned something too. It was a warm day and the food and drinks were well catered for. We will definitely come back!”

– Kris Nooder, Google Review

Thinks along with participants to ensure a tailored experience

“Very nice communication in advance. Very customer-friendly service, we think along with you. Followed a pole dancing workshop with a group of ladies, well cared for, nice clean space. Nice instructor (Vicktoria) who assesses the level well and makes a lot of contact, room for feedback. All in all a very nice experience, definitely recommended!”

Walking into CanDance Studios feels welcoming and engaging. It’s more like entering a shared space for connection than just a traditional dance studio.

Since 2012, the studio has built a reputation as a place where dance is about more than mastering steps—it’s about connecting with others, music, and movement.

We joined a bachata class, and what stood out was the balance of skills among participants. The instructors were attentive and clear. They made it easy to follow along and enjoy the experience.

The A’dam Bachata Festival was another highlight we truly enjoyed. Think world-class DJs and skilled instructors, offering a great opportunity to learn and be part of a larger community.

And if you’re not ready for the big stage yet, I’d say go for the social dance nights first. It’s a perfect way to practice and just let loose in a more relaxed setting—I liked how it helped me build confidence, too.

But it’s not all smooth. A few dancers we spoke to mentioned the occasional rude encounter at the desk, which contrasted with the otherwise positive environment.

On the practical side, we found registering online super straightforward. It only took a few minutes, and it made joining classes and events feel effortless—no stress or back-and-forth, just a smooth process.

Pros

  • Engaging classes
  • Hosts the events
  • Social dance nights
  • Easy online sign-ups

Cons

  • Reports of occasional rude encounters at the desk

Accommodates group lessons and events in well-sized rooms

“Great studio: very spacious ‘big’ room with 2 other separate dance halls. Smaller but more than generous enough for group lessons or a party. The wooden floors are a dream for dancers. Very friendly and helpful owners. There is a bar where you can order drinks. Easy to find and park your car. Highly recommended.”

– Kristin Daenen, Google Review

“We have just attended a workshop by Kirsten Dodgen & Kirsten Vos at this location. It was organized by HrN productions. Nice large hall and easy parking on site. Simply great!”
